Description:
The Oral History Division of the Hebrew University's Institute of
Contemporary Jewry conducts interviews within the framework of the
Institute's research projects as well as in cooperation with institutions
and groups outside the university that are interested in initiating
oral history documentation. Since its founding in 1959, the archive
has recorded interviews with more than 8,000 individuals in 250
projects on various aspects of contemporary Jewish life and history.
Gathering this material directly from those who experienced the relevant
events, the Oral History Division preserves and provides access to
testimonies that are valuable to a broad spectrum of researchers
in contemporary Jewry and related fields.
