A Training Course in Oral History November-December 2003 In cooperation with the Oral History Society of Israel The course is conducted in Hebrew. The Objectives: To provide knowledge and tools for conducting interviews and a critical use of oral history in research and study in different disciplines, such as history, social sciences and literature. To provide knowledge and tools to engage in oral history for cultural and educational purposes, such as preservation of family memories, search of roots and preparation of infrastructure of museums and local archives. Destination The course is designed for every person interested in the various aspects of oral history: Students and researchers, archivists, teachers tutoring students in writing papers, social and communal workers, persons collecting family histories, etc. The course is open to anyone who fulfills the requirement: Active participation and preparation of an interview as a final assignment. When and Where The course takes place on Tuesdays, from November 11th until December 30th, 2003. Each of the eight encounters last six academic hours, between 9.00 and 14.30 (altogether 48 hours). During the intervals students receive sandwiches and hot drinks. Studies are held in the Mount Scopus campus of the Hebrew University (Bldg. Of Contemporary Jewry). Main topics:
Cost and subscription: The fee for the course is NIS 1,000 for individual students, or NID 1,400 for institutions that pay for their students. It can be divided into three payments.Subscription is conditioned by the payment of the first cheque, dated for the first day of the course. Members of the Oral History Society receive NIS discount (membership is only NIS 50 per year).
